Good morning, Fayette County.

As you scroll through today’s Fayette Flyer, you may find yourself thinking, “Wait a minute… haven’t I seen some of these events before?” And you would be right.

This weekend’s lineup includes several events that were originally scheduled for previous weekends but had to be postponed or canceled because of the weather. The good news is that many of those rain-delayed plans are finally making their return, giving everyone another chance to get out, enjoy the community, and support the local businesses, organizations, and volunteers who worked hard to put them together.

Just keep in mind that summer is starting to make itself known. Temperatures are creeping up into the mid-80s, so as you head out to festivals, concerts, markets, runs, celebrations, and family-friendly gatherings, be sure to bring a water bottle, wear something comfortable, and stay hydrated.

There is plenty happening across Fayette County this Thursday through Sunday, so take a look, make a plan, and enjoy the weekend!

Bad news is good business. We never bought in.

Every morning, financial news follows the same script. Headlines panic, coverage catastrophises, and somewhere inside the noise is the story that actually matters — the one that tells you where the opportunity sits, not just where the fear is pointing.

Most sources have stopped looking. The alarm is easier to sell.

The Daily Upside was created by Wall Street insiders for readers who crave real insight over recycled anxiety. Five minutes of global business and finance, before the noise sets the agenda — just the facts, context, and analysis your decisions need.

Join 1M readers — including managing directors and principals at some of Wall Street’s largest institutions — who trust The Daily Upside to filter through the chaos.

The upsides are always there. We’ll find them before breakfast.

THE DIGEST

Tyrone Post Office Reopens After Three-Year Closure

After nearly three years without a local post office, Tyrone residents once again have access to postal services in town. The facility reopened Monday following a long closure tied to fire damage from 2023. Although the building had been repaired much earlier, additional approvals and operational issues delayed the return of service, frustrating residents and businesses that had been driving to nearby communities for mail needs. Local, state, and federal officials attended the reopening, crediting cooperation across different levels of government for helping move the process forward. U.S. Rep. Brian Jack said he pressed postal leaders earlier this year during a congressional hearing, which helped renew attention on the stalled reopening.

Kedron Pool Renovation Plan Advances in Peachtree City

Peachtree City Council voted unanimously on May 21 to advance plans for improvements at Kedron Pool. The project is expected to cost about $7.8 million. Planned upgrades include accessibility improvements such as a new ADA pool lift and ramp, along with updated plumbing, expanded deck space, bleachers, and a possible splash pad. The plan also includes a sprung structure that would enclose the pool. City leaders said the vote moves the project into the design phase, where adjustments may still be made. While some officials expressed concerns that the plan was not their preferred option, they said the improvements are needed. The city also hopes to limit closure time during construction, though some full closures may still be required.

Fayette Schools Earn Statewide Honors for Growth and Achievement

Eleven Fayette County Public Schools received 2025 recognition through Georgia’s statewide school accountability awards, announced by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. The district collected 14 total honors, placing it among the state school systems with the highest number of recognitions. The awards were based on three-year averages from College and Career Ready Performance Index measures, recognizing schools for either strong academic growth or high content mastery. Whitewater Middle earned the top Platinum honor for Greatest Gains, while Oak Grove, Kedron, Rising Starr, Braelinn, Peachtree City Elementary and Robert J. Burch also received awards in that category. Seven schools were also recognized for high performance: Braelinn, Kedron, Peeples, Rising Starr, Peachtree City Elementary, McIntosh High and Starr’s Mill High. The awards use Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers.
