CIVIL NEWS
Fayette County Board of Commissioners Meeting
The Fayette County Board of Commissioners starts the week off with two back-to-back public hearings on Monday to set the 2025 millage rate.
The first hearing starts at 10:00 AM and the second starts at 6:00 PM at the Fayette County Administrative Complex, 140 West Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville.
This meeting will include discussions on the final millage rates for the County's General Fund, Fire Services, EMS, and E-911. The proposed combined rates require a 1.87% increase in property taxes over the rollback rate. This translates to an estimated $13.84 increase for a home valued at $500,000. The primary purpose is to receive public input before the final adoption, which is scheduled for the following week.
See the full official Public Meeting Notice on the Fayette County website. If you’re interested in providing testimony, you are strongly encouraged to attend the public hearings in person. The meeting is open to the public.
Fayetteville City Council Meeting
The Fayetteville City Council has a special two-part meeting on Tuesday to re-approve the 2025 millage rate.
It starts at 9:00 AM at Fayetteville City Hall. The evening session is at 6:30 PM.
This meeting will include discussions on the final adoption of the 5.646 millage rate, which requires a 2.23% property tax increase over the rollback rate due to the state-mandated recalculation. The County's rate translates to an estimated $20.91 increase for a home valued at $425,000. The primary purpose is to hold the public hearings required to finalize this rate.
See the full official notice and agenda on the City of Fayetteville website. If you’re interested in providing testimony, you are encouraged to attend the public hearings in person. The meetings are open to the public.
Peachtree City Council Meeting
The Peachtree City Council is also getting right back to business bright and early after the holiday weekend with a Special Called Meeting on Monday, December 1st starting at 9:00 AM at Peachtree City Hall.
This special session is focused on a single, critical item: re-adopting the city's Maintenance and Operation millage rate. While the rate was formally adopted in October, a technical issue with Fayette County tax assessments requires the Council to re-adopt the rate at 5.840 mills.
This technicality is actually a win for residents: the new rate will reduce the millage, resulting in an average savings of $29.10 annually for Peachtree City property owners.
The meeting is open to the public. See the official notice for full details on the millage calculation.
Tyrone City Council Meeting
The Town of Tyrone Council is getting right back to business after the Thanksgiving weekend with two special public hearings scheduled for Monday (Wait this sounds familiar).
The meetings will both focus on the town's 2.889 millage rate, which remains unchanged. However, a minute recalculation of the state-level tax digest has legally mandated a full round of new public hearings before the rate can be formally re-adopted.
This millage rate requires a 1.92% property tax increase over the rollback rate. For example, a home valued at $525,000 is projected to see an increase of about $13.52.
The public hearings will take place at the Tyrone Municipal Complex, 950 Senoia Road:
Monday, December 1, 2025 at 9:00 AM
Monday, December 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Monday, December 8, 2025 at 6:30 PM (Final hearing and re-adoption)
If you’re interested in providing testimony, residents are highly encouraged to attend any of the scheduled sessions to share comments before the Mayor and Council formally approve the millage rate.
