Good morning, Fayette County.
Has anyone else had to double-check their calendar this week? Seventy-seven degrees in mid-February? I stepped outside yesterday and the birds were going wild, a neighbor was already firing up the mower, and I'm pretty sure I spotted flip-flops at the Kroger. Only in Georgia.
Don't get too comfortable though, Mother Nature has other plans this weekend. Storms are rolling in Friday and Saturday, so keep those umbrellas handy. Rain or not, there's plenty to do. Catch live music at Line Creek Brewing Saturday night or see country legend Dwight Yoakam take the stage at Trilith on Friday. Also heads up, NASCAR is at EchoPark Speedway (that's Atlanta Motor Speedway for those of us who refuse to acknowledge the awful name change) this weekend, so expect some extra traffic around the Highway 19/41 corridor.
Schools are on winter break through Thursday, so soak up the extra family time while you can. Here's what's happening around Fayette County this week.

Your Neighbors Have Trusted Scotty's Since 1997. Here's Why.
When your AC dies on the hottest day of the year, you don't want a call center. You want someone who picks up the phone, shows up on time, and tells you the truth about what your system actually needs.
That's Scotty's Heating & A/C.
Founded by Timothy S. Scott and based right here in our backyard, Scotty's has spent nearly three decades living by a simple promise: do what we say we'll do, when we say we'll do it, for the price we said we'd do it for. They handle everything from routine maintenance and service agreements to full system replacements. And they serve Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, Griffin, and the surrounding areas. Licensed, bonded, and insured. Locally owned and operated out of Turin, Georgia.
Whether you need a quick repair or a whole new system, call Scotty's at

Governor Brian Kemp joined CertainTeed officials on February 13 to cut the ribbon on a major expansion at the company's Peachtree City roofing products facility. The $140 million investment adds 64 new jobs to the plant, which has been a cornerstone of Fayette County's manufacturing sector since 1976. The expansion effectively doubles the facility's production capacity, reinforcing Peachtree City's position as a hub for advanced manufacturing. Company leaders credited the local workforce and Georgia's business climate for making the project possible.
The Fayette County Board of Commissioners has approved a traffic improvement project at the Highway 279 and North Drive intersection, a corridor that has drawn safety concerns from residents and commuters. In the same session, commissioners greenlit a $3.9 million road resurfacing contract covering 13 county roads totaling 10.19 miles. The work aims to address wear and extend the lifespan of some of the county's most-traveled routes. Residents along affected roads can expect construction activity in the coming months.
