PARTNERED WITH
Good morning, Fayette County.
There was a time when seeing a big-name concert meant loading up the car, fighting Atlanta traffic, paying for parking, and making a full expedition out of it. That has changed.
Trilith LIVE has been bringing major performances right here to Fayette County, and on July 3, they’ll help ring in America’s 250th birthday with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra and Grammy Award-winning vocalist David Phelps. It should be a full evening of inspirational music, patriotic favorites, and one of those nights that reminds you how nice it is to have something like this happening close to home.
And this time, Fayette Flyer readers have a chance to go for free.
We’ve teamed up with Trilith LIVE to give away two tickets to the show. To enter, just follow Fayette Flyer on Facebook or Instagram and comment the keyword “POPS” on the official giveaway post. We’ll randomly select one winner on July 1.
Good luck, and thanks as always for reading.

Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field has been awarded $9.925 million in federal funding for a new air traffic control tower in Peachtree City. The money comes through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and will support a major airport upgrade aimed at improving safety, aircraft movement, and long-term capacity at the busy general aviation airport. Falcon Field serves business, corporate, recreational, training, maintenance, and public-service aviation across Fayette County and the broader metro Atlanta region. Airport officials expect the new tower to be operational by February 2028. Once complete, it should give controllers and pilots better visibility and coordination as aviation activity continues to grow. Additional construction details and timeline updates are expected as the project moves forward.
Fayette County community members gathered June 10 to dedicate the intersection of Highway 92, Westbridge Road, and Veterans Parkway in honor of former Sheriff Randall Johnson. The ceremony recognized Johnson’s long career in public service and his deep ties to Fayette County. Born locally in 1940, Johnson graduated from Fayette County High School and began his law enforcement career in 1959. He later worked at the Georgia State Capitol and served as a special agent with the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Alcohol and Tobacco Division. Johnson was elected Fayette County Sheriff in 1976 and went on to serve eight consecutive terms before retiring at the end of 2008. Officials said his nearly five decades of service made him one of the longest-serving sheriffs in Georgia history.
If you’ve driven through downtown Fayetteville lately and wondered what’s going up near North Glynn Street and West Lanier Avenue, the project is Penler MOTS. The development, formerly known as Meridian on the Square, is planned to include 236 garden-style apartment units spread across five residential buildings. The project will also bring several on-site amenities, including a clubroom, fitness center, co-working spaces, dog park, and pool courtyard. Plans also call for a separate retail building with a rooftop patio, adding a commercial piece to the larger residential project. The site sits in a highly visible part of downtown Fayetteville, so it has naturally drawn plenty of curiosity from residents watching construction take shape.
