Good morning, Fayette County. Wow, has it felt like a long week? I guess that is what happens during the first full work week of the year. Getting back into the rhythm of commuting and managing a schedule definitely takes some getting used to.
Between the schedule shock and this fluctuating weather (heat on, heat off!), my immune system is officially confused. Judging by the coughs I'm hearing around town, I’m not alone. So take your vitamins, say your prayers, and let's look forward to the weekend.

Cards Over Clicks helps children disconnect from their devices and reconnect with the real world. Founded by local Navy veteran Dennis Loewer, this 501(c)(3) non-profit uses the excitement of card collecting to develop critical social and learning skills.
From Pokémon and Sports to Disney and Star Wars, every free card packet comes with a grade-specific educational worksheet tailored to Georgia standards. Whether for Pre-K or High School, these packs encourage students to achieve classroom goals and engage with their peers face-to-face.
They help educators and parents turn "social media timeouts" into fun, educational wins. Their mission is simple: inspire kids to put the phone down and learn through family-friendly collecting.
Ready to inspire your students or support the community? They are actively seeking teachers to challenge their classes, educators to help design worksheets, and local business sponsors to keep the packs free.

Fayette County residents will see major safety improvements at high-risk intersections after the county and Town of Brooks received a $9.6 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Safe Streets and Roads for All award will fund three new roundabouts at dangerous intersections across the county, plus school zone safety improvements near all public schools. County data shows more than 1,200 crashes occurred within a quarter mile of schools between 2018 and 2022. "This award is a testament to our dedicated efforts in making Fayette County's roads safer for everyone," said County Manager Steve Rapson. Construction is expected within five years.
Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services has added a new E-ONE High Performance fire truck to its fleet, enhancing emergency response capabilities across the county. The specialized apparatus joins the department's existing equipment and will help firefighters respond more effectively to emergencies. The acquisition reflects the county's ongoing investment in public safety infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing community. Fayette County Fire operates multiple stations serving residents throughout Fayetteville, Peachtree City, and unincorporated areas.
The City of Fayetteville initiated essential roadway repair work on a high-traffic stretch of Redwine Road earlier this week. The project, which took place between Nancy Lane and Hunter's Glen on January 7th and 8th, involved targeted pavement improvements and safety enhancements. To minimize the impact on school commutes and local traffic, crews utilized single-lane closures and active traffic control between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. These repairs are part of a broader city initiative to maintain aging infrastructure and ensure smoother travel for residents moving between south Fayetteville and the Whitewater school district.
The Fayette Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the new year with a series of ribbon-cutting ceremonies to celebrate fresh entrepreneurial ventures in the county. Accessible Design Studios celebrated its official launch on January 7th, introducing a specialized commercial interior design firm and co-working resource hub for design professionals. Following closely behind, Nath Beauty Salon held its grand opening on January 8th, adding a new premier destination for protective styling, natural hair care, and professional braiding to the growing health and beauty sector in Fayetteville.
