Good morning, Fayette County. Good morning, Fayette County. Well, the 'random warmth' has officially exited stage left, and winter is back in the driver’s seat. Luckily, we’re blessed with those mild Georgia winters that make the chill a bit easier to bear.
The big news this week? The official grand opening of Trilith Live. This is a total shift in our local entertainment landscape. Gone are the days of the long haul to Atlanta or Gwinnett for a premier concert or show. Now, the world-class talent is coming straight to our backyard. While many of us are still brave the daily commute to the airport or the city, we’re counting this as a massive win for the home team. No more traffic on the way home from a show, just a quick drive back to our own pillows!

Cards Over Clicks helps children disconnect from their devices and reconnect with the real world. Founded by local Navy veteran Dennis Loewer, this 501(c)(3) non-profit uses the excitement of card collecting to develop critical social and learning skills.
From Pokémon and Sports to Disney and Star Wars, every free card packet comes with a grade-specific educational worksheet tailored to Georgia standards. Whether for Pre-K or High School, these packs encourage students to achieve classroom goals and engage with their peers face-to-face.
They help educators and parents turn "social media timeouts" into fun, educational wins. Their mission is simple: inspire kids to put the phone down and learn through family-friendly collecting.
Ready to inspire your students or support the community? They are actively seeking teachers to challenge their classes, educators to help design worksheets, and local business sponsors to keep the packs free.

The heartbeat of Fayette County often pulses through its nonprofit organizations, but even those who serve others need a place to recharge and connect. This past week, the Fayette Chamber of Commerce announced the official launch of the 2026 Non-Profit Network, a dedicated initiative designed to break down silos and turn individual charities into a unified force for good.
Led by a powerhouse team of local leaders, including representatives from Piedmont Fayette Hospital, The Eden Project, and Healing Bridge, the network will focus on solving the real-world challenges our local heroes face daily, from capacity building to collaborative leadership. The movement officially begins with a "Meet & Greet" later this month, where organizations from across the county are invited to sit at the same table, share their missions, and help shape the roadmap for Fayette’s charitable landscape in 2026.
The Fayette County Water System issued a community-wide alert this past Friday following reports of a man posing as a utility employee to gain entry into homes. The impersonator reportedly requested to enter a residence to "collect a water sample." Officials are reminding residents that legitimate water system employees operate in marked county vehicles, carry official ID badges, and will never ask to enter your home for a sample collection. If you encounter a suspicious individual, the county urges you to call 770-461-1146 immediately.
Plans have been finalized this week for 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day festivities, with a special emphasis on the county’s younger generation. This year’s theme, "Living the Dream: It Starts with Me," will feature a youth oratorical contest and a community-wide parade through Fayetteville on Monday, Jan. 19. Organizers expressed excitement about the record number of student applications for this year's program, signaling a bright future for local civic engagement and leadership among Fayette’s students.
