Good morning, Fayette County.
Technically, summer does not officially arrive for a few more weeks, but for all intents and purposes, it is already here in Fayette County.
School is out! Camps, concerts, markets, library programs, pool days, and neighborhood events are all starting to stack up, which you will see plenty of below. There are already purple trails from melted popsicles on my back deck, which feels like as good a sign as any that the season has arrived.
And after those long dry stretches we had this spring, the weather seems determined to make up for lost time with rain, rain, and then a little more rain. Keep an umbrella nearby, check the forecast before heading out, and do not forget to get the kids or grandkids signed up for a few fun summer activities while there are still spots open.

Christie's May 18 auction was headlined by a $181M Jackson Pollock — the fourth highest price ever. A Rothko also went for $95.4M. A Brancusi fetched $107.6M (second highest ever for sculpture).
Those masterpieces were obvious outliers, but by the end of the evening, $1.1B in art had been sold.
Pollock died in 1956. The number of paintings he left behind is limited. Same for Rothko, Warhol, Basquiat. When one of these works trades at the top of the market, the remaining supply gets thinner and more contested.
That scarcity is what Masterworks was largely built around. Their acquisition committee — former specialists from Sotheby's and Christie's — uses over 3 million data points to identify which pieces to buy.
29 exits have delivered net annualized returns like 16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8% on those held longer than a year, not including those unsold.

Excitement filled downtown Fayetteville Tuesday night as the U.S. Men’s National Team arrived in metro Atlanta ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Shortly after head coach Mauricio Pochettino announced the 26-man roster, players traveled to Fayetteville, where they were greeted by hundreds of fans near Trilith Studios. Supporters lined Iver Place outside the team hotel, cheering as players stopped for photos, autographs and high-fives. Young soccer fans were among those hoping to see national team stars, including Christian Pulisic. The team is set to begin training at the new Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville. Local business owners and residents are welcoming the attention, expecting the World Cup and U.S. Soccer’s presence to bring new energy, visitors and economic activity to the city.
Sandy Creek High rising junior Morghan Reckley has been named to the 2026 USA Basketball Women’s U17 National Team. Reckley, a guard for the Lady Patriots, was one of 12 players selected from a group of 46 athletes who took part in four days of trials. The team will compete this July at the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Brno, Czechia. The selection adds to Reckley’s growing list of national basketball accomplishments. She was also a member of the 2025 USA U16 National Team that won gold at the FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup. Reckley averaged 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists per game as a sophomore, helping Sandy Creek reach the state championship game. Peachtree City has named Major General George B. Harrison, USAF (Ret.), as Grand Marshal of its 2026 Fourth of July Parade, recognizing his decades of military service and continued work on behalf of veterans. Harrison served more than 35 years in the United States Air Force, holding leadership and staff assignments while primarily flying fighter aircraft. After retiring from the military, he worked as a research engineer at Georgia Tech and later became deeply involved in volunteer service and veteran advocacy. He remains active with Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia in Peachtree City and serves on charitable boards that help connect veterans with resources and support. City leaders said Harrison’s selection is especially meaningful as the nation marks 250 years of independence. The annual parade remains one of Peachtree City’s most cherished community traditions.
