Good morning, Fayette County,

Congratulations, you made it through another election cycle. The unsolicited texts, phone calls, and campaign commercials can finally take a break until 2028.

The major races have been covered extensively, but results for some local contests can be harder to track down. That’s why you’re subscribed to the Fayette Flyer, right?

The Georgia Secretary of State has posted the Fayette County election results. The results remain unofficial until they go through the certification process.

THE DIGEST

A Better Place to Play at Kedron’s Hockey Rink

Peachtree City’s inline hockey players have an upgraded home at Kedron Fieldhouse. New rink boards, glass and benches have replaced worn equipment, while accessibility improvements make the facility easier to use. The Peachtree City Hockey Association celebrated the work with an October 30 ribbon cutting.

The city allocated $500,000 toward rink improvements earlier this year, with the association also contributing to the effort. Additional upgrades are planned, including a second scoreboard.

The investment supports a program that introduces local children to hockey and gives experienced players room to develop. The association’s youth house league serves ages 5–18, emphasizing skating, teamwork and game skills without requiring travel-team participation. For families looking for another way to keep kids active, the refreshed rink strengthens an established option close to home.

Falcon Field’s Control Tower Takes Another Step Forward

Falcon Field’s planned control tower is moving ahead with a $1.16 million investment in communications and weather equipment.

The Peachtree City Airport Authority approved the $1,157,404 award unanimously on October 20. The package will provide systems needed for tower operations, with installation, testing and staff training included in the project requirements. Plans also call for an airfield lighting control panel and an additional wind sensor.

Those details matter because a tower needs more than a clear view of the runway. Controllers also need reliable communications and timely information about conditions on the airfield.

The authority separately approved $269,690 for design of a taxiway connector serving the airport’s Area D. That award covers planning the connection, with construction requiring separate funding.

Five New First Responders Join Fayette’s Fire Crews

Five new first responders are joining Fayette County and Fayetteville after completing nine months of firefighter and emergency medical training.

Cadet Class 55 graduated November 2 at the Fayette County Fire and EMS Training Center. Kamrie Geter, Michael Goolsby and Tabitha Dickerson will serve Fayette County, while Dylan Moore and Matthew Neumeyer will serve Fayetteville. Judge Jason Thompson administered their oath.

Their preparation combined classroom lessons with practical training for Firefighter II and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician qualifications, building skills for both fire calls and medical emergencies.

The county’s training program also offers a path toward further education. Graduates who meet the required national certifications can receive 47 credit hours toward an associate degree in fire and emergency services at Southern Crescent Technical College through an agreement with the department.
