In case no one has said it yet, welcome to fall! If you’re hoping to squeeze in one last dip in the pool without turning into an ice cube, your window is getting smaller. We’ve got overnight lows in the 50s coming up, so it’s time to pull out the long sleeves and find that favorite flannel. You might still need shorts by lunchtime, but at least your morning coffee can finally do its job of warming you up.
Summer had a good run, and I’ll miss the long evenings. But I’m ready for open windows, cozy weather, and plans that don’t depend on finding the nearest patch of shade.

Fayetteville is moving toward a shared home for its economic development and tourism office, with a visitor center designed to help the city welcome travelers and support local businesses. The Downtown Development Authority approved a lease with Walton Fayetteville on September 16 for vacant space beneath apartments. The proposed location would also host DDA and Main Street Tourism board meetings. With U.S. Soccer creating new tourism opportunities, officials see the center as a base for building Fayetteville’s visitor program.
Public art and youth activities are getting dedicated attention in Peachtree City, where council approved the first members of two new advisory bodies. Seven residents will serve on the Public Art Advisory Group, while 12 of the Youth Activities Committee’s 15 seats have been filled. The appointments were among 29 approved across city boards, covering transportation, recreation, planning, tourism, and the airport. Council also adopted landscaping rules requiring native plants to make up at least 60 percent of future approved landscape plans, with flexibility based on availability. Invasive plants will be prohibited at those sites. Other decisions allow food pushcarts under specific operating rules and authorize a $1.61 million equipment lease covering technology, public safety vehicles, and other departmental needs. Those purchases will be financed over five years.
What should Fayetteville look like in the years ahead? The city is inviting people who live, work, study, worship, or spend time here to help answer that question through Imagine Fayetteville, its 2027 comprehensive plan update. An online survey is open through November 30, with in-person opportunities planned for October. Participants can share ideas about growth, development, community needs, and future investments. The resulting plan will guide land-use decisions and establish a five-year work program for putting community priorities into action. Work began this spring, and city council is expected to consider the final document in fall 2027. This first round of feedback gives residents an early opportunity to help define the city’s direction. Find the survey and participation details at Imagine Fayetteville.

Advanced Beginner Spanish

The screening is part of Fayetteville’s fall Movies in the Park series.

Peachtree City Dragon Boat Race & International Festival

Hosted by Peach State Dragon Boat Academy, the festival is free and open to the public. Some activities, vendor purchases, and team events carry separate fees.

Fayetteville Shred & Recycle Day
