Good morning, Fayette County,
An estimated 125,000 people call our county home. So how is it that I keep running into the same person everywhere I go? There’s someone I grew up going to church with who seems to pop up about every two months, always somewhere unexpected. No planning. No shared routine. Just another “Well, look who it is.” Meanwhile, I can think of a hundred people who supposedly still live here, and I haven’t seen them in a decade. At this point, I’m taking everyone else’s word for it.
Do you have someone like that? A person you never make plans with but somehow see more often than friends you’re actively trying to get together with? Hit reply to this email and tell me. I’d love to know who keeps making surprise appearances in your life.
- Chad

Peachtree City’s Halloween weekend is getting a much louder soundtrack. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels headline Air Dot Show Atlanta on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, at Atlanta Regional Airport (Falcon Field). The lineup also includes the F-16 Viper and C-17 Globemaster III demonstration teams, aerobatic pilot Michael Goulian, and vintage P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra aircraft. Major acts are scheduled to perform both days.
Gates open at 9 a.m., with flying scheduled from noon until approximately 4 p.m. Tickets must be purchased online or by phone before arriving. General admission is sold in group packages that include one parking pass and shuttle transportation. Bring folding chairs for general admission and ear protection, especially for young children. After 35 years, Fayetteville’s Dwarf House is preparing for a new name and a larger home. The restaurant at 221 Banks Station will close Friday, November 6, with plans to return in 2027 as Truett’s Chick-fil-A. Plans call for replacing the roughly 6,300-square-foot building with a restaurant measuring about 7,500 square feet, an increase of nearly 20 percent. The Truett’s concept combines Chick-fil-A favorites with homestyle sides and specialty dishes. Family photographs and keepsakes celebrate founder S. Truett Cathy, while dining room, counter, and drive-through service remain part of the experience. An exact reopening date has not been announced. For neighbors who have made the Dwarf House a regular breakfast or dinner stop, there is still time for another visit before its transformation begins.
Crabapple Lane Elementary’s youngest students helped turn a celebration of Dolly Parton into more than 800 books for other children. The school’s Pre-K Hatchlings class led the collection ahead of its September 25 Dolly Day. Families contributed new and gently used books, while students and staff celebrated with cowboy hats, rhinestones, and plenty of reading. Ashley Fannin and Mary Beth Thompson organized the effort. The books were collected for Children Read Atlanta, a nonprofit that prepares donated books for children to keep before they enter kindergarten. It distributes through programs including Head Start, Sheltering Arms, and Title I preschools serving families with limited resources. Inspired by Parton’s work promoting literacy, the Crabapple Lane community gave hundreds of books a chance to become another child’s favorite bedtime story.
A World Cup final in Fayetteville delivered a finish to remember Friday, October 23, as the U.S. Women’s Cerebral Palsy National Team rallied past Australia, 3–2. Trailing by two goals at halftime at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, the Americans changed their approach. Coach Chris Maravalli moved Catarina Guimaraes from goalkeeper into the attack, and she promptly helped turn the match around. Guimaraes scored, Jesslyn Kuhnel supplied the equalizer, and Annie Wickett’s attack in stoppage time produced the deciding goal. The victory secured the Americans’ second IFCPF Women’s World Cup championship and reversed their loss to Australia in the 2024 final. Kuhnel earned tournament MVP honors. For Fayette County spectators, the training center’s first major international competition brought a world championship celebration close to home.
