When you’re working through a big idea, where does it go first? A laptop, your phone’s notes app, or a trusty notebook?
I recently attended the Flourishing Summit at Trilith LIVE and found myself noticing everyone’s approach. One guy photographed every slide with his iPad, flash and all. Another appeared to be transcribing the speaker’s every word. Then there was my camp: listen, let it sink in, and scribble down three words that will hopefully still mean something tomorrow.
There’s probably something to be said for each method, though I suspect the iPad flash wasn’t doing much for anyone.
What I appreciated most was the chance to step away from my usual routine, hear a different perspective, and give a few ideas room to develop. Having opportunities like that right here in Fayette County is something I’m grateful for. However you take your notes, it’s good to keep learning.

Getting across Highway 54 by golf cart could eventually become easier on Peachtree City’s east side. City officials are pursuing a new bridge that would add another crossing to the community’s path network, advancing a project that has been discussed for more than five years. Funding remains a work in progress. Although officials discussed $7.5 million in potential support through the Atlanta Regional Commission, only $318,000 has been secured so far. The city will continue working with ARC to obtain the remaining funding. The proposed bridge would become the easternmost golf cart crossing over Highway 54. Its precise location was not identified during the work session, and officials estimated completion could still be a couple of years away.
A business idea can begin at a kitchen table. This fall, Fayette County entrepreneurs have an opportunity to bring theirs before a panel of judges. Applications are open for the 2026 Fayette Pitch Contest, presented by Launch Fayette with the Fayette Chamber of Commerce and Jason Hunter Design. The competition welcomes founders across industries who plan to launch or grow in Fayette County. Applications close October 13 and carry a $20 fee. A required preliminary round follows October 20, with five finalists advancing to the November 19 competition. Finalists will have five minutes to present their businesses, followed by questions from judges. Beyond prizes, the contest offers an opportunity to practice explaining an idea, gain exposure, and connect with people who could help it grow.
At CrossFit PTC, Megan Mulvey is putting her experience with cancer toward a new purpose: helping children and families facing treatment. Mulvey was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2023. Her treatment included 51 rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in April 2024. After overcoming the disease that year, she began building a way to support others. Her nonprofit, Box of Hope, brings the CrossFit community together through fundraising workouts benefiting pediatric cancer patients and their families. The effort connects an activity central to Mulvey’s own life with a cause shaped by her recovery. For Peachtree City’s fitness community, it creates an opportunity to make a workout count beyond the gym, turning participation into support for families navigating childhood cancer.
